Bay Court Care Home Celebrates Glowing First Care Inspectorate Inspection
Bay Court Care Home in Largs is celebrating a fantastic first Care Inspectorate inspection, with the home receiving 4 “Very Good” evaluations across key areas including residents’ wellbeing, leadership, the setting and care planning.
The unannounced inspection, was the first inspection of Bay Court Care Home since the home registered with the Care Inspectorate in July 2025.
Inspectors highlighted the positive relationships between residents and a committed staff team who know the people they support well, while also praising the wide range of activities and strong links with the local community.
The home received Very Good ratings for how well it supports people’s wellbeing, how good its leadership is, how good its setting is and how well care and support is planned. The staff team was also rated a grade of 4 - Good, with inspectors noting that several important strengths had a positive impact on residents’ experiences.
The inspection report highlighted the compassionate approach of staff, with one resident describing the team as a “fantastic” bunch, while a relative praised how well staff interact with those living at the home.
Bay Court was also recognised for providing a varied programme of meaningful activities, tailored around residents’ interests and preferences. Activities include gardening, intergenerational sessions, pet therapy, arts and crafts, musical performances, cycling and trips into the local community.
The home’s commitment to its surrounding community was also highlighted, including a planned beach clean-up which brought residents, families, staff and local volunteers together.
One resident told inspectors: “I like to keep busy and there is plenty to do.”
The report also praised Bay Court’s bright, welcoming environment, including its range of communal spaces, community café, cinema, hair salon, private dining and function room, as well as its large enclosed and accessible garden.
Inspectors noted that the garden provided residents with a choice of areas to enjoy with little assistance from staff, while the home’s gardening club gives residents the opportunity to plant and pick seasonal flowers and plants.
The report concluded that Bay Court’s person-centred care planning helped ensure residents’ individual needs, choices and wishes were understood and reflected in the support they received.

Bay Court Care Home provides care for up to 80 older people and is located on Anthony Road in Largs.
